Today, 03/13/08, at approximately 11:15 AM, the
Swiftwater barracks of the Pennsylvania state Police
notified our department that they had received an
anonymous phone call from a pay phone at Schoch’s Exxon
in Snydersville. The caller stated that they had
overheard a conversation between a group of people in
which they discussed going to a Stroudsburg School
during lunchtime with weapons. Contact was made with
Stroudsburg School authorities and a lockdown was
immediately put into place at the High School and at
Morey Elementary. A perimeter was established and
additional patrols were sent to the Middle School on
Chipperfield Drive as a precaution. At approximately
12:00 PM, one of the officers at the Middle School
observed, from a distance, two school age males enter
the nearby treeline. Almost simultaneous to the
sighting, police received a call from the Junior High
alerting them that a janitor spotted two students
leaving the school. This caused a lockdown of the Middle
School and the Arlington Elementary. Information was
received, shortly thereafter, that identified the two
students that left the school and a search ensued. At
approximately 1:30 PM, the police perimeter was scaled
back but several roving uniform patrols remained on
scene for the remainder of the school day. At the same
time, School authorities relaxed the full lockdown to a
