PRESS RELEASE 2-21-07

2/20/07, at approximately 1:30 AM, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called to the Elm Street area of Stroudsburg to investigate a suspicious vehicle that had been parked in a lot for a lengthy period of time. The vehicle was occupied by 31 year old Mount Pocono resident Michael Orlando Lee. Lee couldn’t provide identification but identified himself as another person using a name that he spelled differently several times. An acquaintance of Lee supplied a totally different name. Lee’s fingerprints were processed and he was positively identified. It was further learned that he was wanted for minor offenses in Virginia but they would not extradite. He was charged with False Identification to Law Enforcement Authorities, arraigned in front of Senior District Judge Anthony Mangan and released on $2,000.00 unsecured bail.

2/16/07 at approximately 7 PM, a Stroud Area Regional Police Department Officer conducted a vehicle stop for equipment violations on Greene Street, Stroud Township. It was learned that the operator, 20 year old East Stroudsburg resident Lionel Blackledge was driving with a suspended license and was wanted on a traffic warrant. He was asked four times to exit the vehicle which he refused to do. Blackledge then drove off with officers pursuing him. Even though it was a low speed pursuit, no vehicles exceeded 40 MPH, Blackledge still struck two parked cars on Dreher Avenue which caused him to crash. He then attempt to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. A loaded .22 caliber derringer was found near the driver’s seat. Upon further investigation, it was learned that Blackledge had a prior felony conviction for criminal possession of a firearm which prohibits him from obtaining a Firearms Carry Permit or possessing a firearm. He was charged with Possessing a Firearm, possessing a Firearm Without a License, Resisting Arrest, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and several traffic related violations. He was arraigned in front of DJ Robert Claypool and taken to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.

OTHER ARRESTS

2/18/07, at approximately 1:30 AM, 47 year old Seldon NY resident Walter R. Wintjen was arrested for Public Drunkenness after being found in an intoxicated condition at the Walmart in East Stroudsburg.

2/18/07, at approximately 2 AM, Police were called to an altercation that had occurred at Shorty’s Place on Crystal Street, East Stroudsburg. 44 year old East Stroudsburg resident Scott K. Williams was charged with Harassment after police learned that he had started a fight with a patron.

2/16/07, at approximately 9:30 Pm Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot behind the Wawa in East Stroudsburg. 18 year old East Stroudsburg resident James L. Shreck was charged with Disorderly Conduct after finding him in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

 

PRESS RELEASE 2-15-07

2/14/07, The Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called to the scene of a violent domestic assault on Brislin Road, Stroud Township at approximately 2:20 PM. Police were told by the 47 year old victim that her husband of thirty years, 54 year old Paul A. Clark, started assaulting her, without provocation, shortly before 1PM. She stated that she had been sitting in a chair in the living room when her husband got up from a chair that he had been sitting in, approached her and started yelling at her. She then said that he pulled her to the ground and put a handgun to her head and ordered her to swallow pills from her medicine vials. She refused and he dragged her to an open door leading to the basement where he struck her in the head with a steel cooking pot causing her to fall down the steps. He then went down the stairs, dragged her back up and again struck her in the head causing her to again fall down the stairs. He repeated this action for a third time, went downstairs to her and repeatedly struck her with the pot causing her to sustain a fractured arm and numerous lacerations to her head and facial area. Clark then started to destroy property belong to the victim and continued assaulting her throughout the residence. She was able to call two individuals who summoned police for her but Clark had left the residence prior to their arrival and took a .40 caliber Berretta semi-automatic pistol with him. On 2/15/07, at approximately 10:00 AM, Paul Clark contacted SARPD and made arrangements to turn himself in. He came to Headquarters one hour later, brought the pistol with him and surrendered without incident. He was arraigned in front of DJ Joey Krawitz on charges of Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault and Harassment. He was remanded to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000.00 bail. The victim continues to be treated for injuries sustained in the incident.


A charge of False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities was filed on 53 year old Stroudsburg resident Eddie Hicks. On 2/5/07, at approximately 3:00 AM, SARPD took a report from him that his 2004 Dodge Dakota had been stolen from his driveway while it was warming up. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. Later in the day, PSP at Fernridge Barracks located the vehicle on Rimrock Drive, Bartonsville where it had wrecked and struck a tree. Troopers contacted Hicks who recanted his story about it being stolen. SARPD was notified and also interviewed Hicks. Through investigation it was learned that Hicks had been out without his wife knowing it, had wrecked the truck and didn’t want her to find out.

1/13/07, 20 year old Stroudsburg resident Melissa A. Cortez had two charges of DUI and related offenses filed on her after being stopped and arrested twice inside of one hour. At 1:10 AM, Off. Shelly was on patrol at the intersection of Main and Ninth Streets, Stroudsburg, when he was nearly struck, by a vehicle Cortez was driving, when she turned in front of him. He made a traffic stop and determined that she appeared impaired from alcohol. He administered field sobriety tests which she failed. She was taken to the Monroe County DUI center where a blood sample was obtained to test for Blood Alcohol Content and released into the custody of her sister, Stephanie Cortez, who signed forms agreeing to take responsibility for Melissa. Both were instructed to leave the vehicle where it was, for the night, since it was off of the roadway and in a parking lot. At 2:05 AM, Off. Schramer was on patrol when she observed the same vehicle involved in the earlier DUI arrest, with a single occupant, being operated on Sarah Street, Stroudsburg. The vehicle was pulled over and Melissa Cortez was again found to be driving. The same process was repeated at the DUI center and this time Cortez was released into the custody of her parents. The Blood Alcohol Content for the first DUI arrest was .19%, the second DUI arrest resulted in a BAC of .17%.

OTHER ARRESTS

2/12/07, 47 year old Seldon, NY resident Walter R. Wintjen was charged with Public Drunkenness at 5:45 PM when he created a disturbance on 7th and Main Streets, Stroudsburg.

2/12/07, 46 year old John Evans, address unknown, was arrested for Public Drunkenness at 4:00 PM after creating a disturbance in the K-Mart parking lot, East Stroudsburg.

21/12/07, a 16 year old juvenile was charged with Disorderly Conduct after creating a disturbance at the Stroudsburg High School at 2:15 PM.

Press Release  2-09-07

2/9/07 at 7:45 AM, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department responded to the scene of a fire at the maintenance building for the Glenbrook Golf Course. Upon arrival, police observed flames and smoke coming from the structure. It was learned that an employee, Kevin Hart (age and address unknown) was cutting a barrel with a torch when an explosion occurred. Also in the building at the time of the explosion was another employee, 45 year old East Stroudsburg resident Jeffrey Feick. Both individuals’ sustained burn and laceration injuries. Hart was med-evaced to the Lehigh Valley Hospital and Feick was taken to Pocono Medical Center for treatment. The cause of the explosion remains undetermined and the State Police Fire Marshal was called in to assist in the investigation.

2/9/07, at approximately 2:00 AM, officers from the Stroud Area Regional Police Department were dispatched to Shorty’s Pub on Crystal Street, East Stroudsburg to investigate an assault. It was learned that 18 year old East Stroudsburg resident Tyler J. Perez-Lafeir had struck the victim with a beer glass causing the victim to sustain severe lacerations to his face. He fled the scene but was apprehended on East Broad Street, East Stroudsburg. He was positively identified by patrons on the scene and was charged with Aggravated Assault, Underage Drinking and Public drunkenness. He was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and put in Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000.00 bail

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is investigating a theft of approximately $700.00 of scrap aluminum and auto parts that occurred at 5:00 AM on 2/8/07 at A&L Transmissions on Broad Street, Stroudsburg. A neighbor observed someone loading objects into a vehicle in the parking lot and called police. The vehicle fled south on route 191 prior to police arrival. A security camera showed a white male, approximately 5’09” tall wearing a dark colored jacket, possibly leather, a light colored hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and jeans as he loaded the car parts into an unknown type light colored sedan.

While on routine patrol on 2/7/07 at 1:30 AM, Off. David Tonkay observed a suspicious vehicle, a 1994 Suzuki Samurai, in the Brodhead Park, Stroud Township. Also nearby was a 1998 Ford van owned by Pocono Heating and Air Conditioning. Upon investigation, he observed the Suzuki to be occupied by two individuals and the van to be unoccupied. The van contained various tools, copper and pipe fittings. Also in the Suzuki were copper and fittings similar to those in the van. The suspects, 20 year old Stroudsburg resident John C. Hicks and 23 year old Stroudsburg resident Raymond J. Packard, Jr. were then arrested for Theft and receiving stolen property. As the investigation progressed, it was learned that a burglary had taken place at Pocono Motor Sports on route 209 in Hamilton Township. A van, matching the description of the Ford van in Brodhead Park, was used to back into a glass window, break it and take a 2007 KLX 300 Kawasaki dirt bike, neon green in color. During the course of the joint investigation involving both SARPD and PSP, it was learned that both suspects had taken the van from North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg and used it to commit the burglary. After committing the burglary, one of the suspects took the bike to an unknown location to dispose of it. They then proceeded to the Brodhead Park where Off. Tonkay encountered them. The motorcycle has not yet been recovered. Both suspects were arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth on
Theft and receiving stolen property charges. They were taken to jail in lieu of $5,000.00 bail.

2/6/07 42 year old Stroudsburg resident Gerald Gardner was charged with Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, Public Drunkenness, Possession of Paraphernalia and Harassment after an incident that occurred at an apartment complex on North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg. Police were called to the scene at approximately 2:30 AM to investigate a disturbance. Upon entering the common area of the complex a knife was observed on the floor and Gardner was observed holding a golf club in each hand. He put down the clubs after several commands. It was then learned that Gardner had locked himself out of his room and enlisted the aid of another tenant to get in. Upon gaining entry to his apartment he saw an item was missing and accused the tenant of taking it. He became enraged and assaulted him. When Gardner was informed that he was being arrested he became violent and fought with Officers. After being taken into custody, he then damaged the door and window of a police cruiser. He was arraigned and placed in jail in lieu of $1,000.00 bail.

2/5/07, 33 year old Stroudsburg resident David M. Coval was charged with Simple Assault and Harassment after an incident on North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg. Upon arrival police learned from the victim, who is nine weeks pregnant, that they were having a verbal altercation that turned violent when Coval struck her twice in the face with a closed fist and then fled. The injuries observed were consistent with the victim’s statement. Coval was located on foot in the Second and McConnell Streets area and arrested. He was arraigned and placed in jail in lieu of $15,000.00 bail.

9/23/06, 48 year old Stroudsburg resident Frank J. Albergo was charged with DUI and Possession of Paraphernalia after an incident on the 1700 block of West Main Street, Stroudsburg. Police were summoned, by a witness, to the parking lot of Perkins restaurant to investigate a report of a vehicle being driven erratically. The vehicle was located and Albergo exhibited signs of impairment. He submitted a blood sample for a chemical screen which came back positive for the presence of a cocaine derivative. Also found in his vehicle was a glass pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine.

Other Arrests

2/8/07 Four people were arrested for Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol on Hallet Street, East Stroudsburg. They were 20 year old Rockaway NJ resident Kelly R. Argenziano, 19 year old East Stroudsburg resident Dominique Racanati, 19 year old Effort resident John R. Robertello and 19 year old East Stroudsburg resident Lisa Esoldi.

2/8/07, Two people were arrested for Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol on Teeter Street, East Stroudsburg. They were 18 year old Lincoln Park NJ resident Kara A. Mowry and Closter, NJ resident Melissa Crescenzi.

2/8/07 35 year old East Stroudsburg resident was arrested for Public Drunkenness after an incident on Horizon Drive, Stroud Township.

2/8/07, 18 year old Catasauqua resident Jon A. Fenstermacher was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after an incident at the WaWa on West Main Street, Stroudsburg.

2/9/07, 20 year old Teaneck NJ resident John C. Hartenfels and 18 year old Stroudsburg resident Lauren Zrillo were arrested for Underage Drinking at the WaWa, West Main Street, Stroudsburg.

2/9/07, 46 year old Stroudsburg resident Hipolitto Rodriguez was arrested for Public Drunkenness after being found in an intoxicated state in the Shoprite parking lot, Stroudsburg.

PRESS RELEASE 2-5-07

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is investigating a burglary that took place on 2/4/07 at Laurel Beverage, Monroe Street, Stroudsburg. While on patrol at approximately 3:30 AM, an SARPD Officer observed the front door glass to be broken out. Three cartons of Marlboro Reds and a case of Weyerbach beer were taken.

1/28/06, 34 year old East Stroudsburg resident Scott E. Van Why was charged with DUI, Driving while operating privilege is suspended-DUI related and Careless Driving. SARPD officers were called to Hallet Street, East Stroudsburg at approximately 2:10 AM to investigate an accident in which a vehicle struck a utility pole. Van Why exhibited signs of impairment from alcohol and was administered field sobriety tests which he failed. He provided a blood sample for blood alcohol content analysis which came back at .16%.

2/2/07, 21 year old Argentinean resident Matias Pollitzer was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking after an incident at the Siamsa Irish Pub, Stroudsburg. Victims reported that two purses containing cash, a cell phone and various credit cards were taken from a point of storage inside the pub. A review of the security cameras depicted Pollitzer taking them. The following day, an off duty SARPD Officer observed him at the Front Row, Main Street Stroudsburg. He was taken into custody, arraigned in front of DJ Thomas Shiffer where bail was set at $10,000.00.

2/3/07, 49 year old Susan E. Cohl and 43 year old Patrick Morency, both residents at 117 B North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg had charges filed on them for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. SARPD Officers were investigating an armed robbery that had just occurred nearby and saw several people flee into the house at the approach of a patrol car. While interviewing approximately ten people that were in the house, they observed various items used for smoking crack cocaine in an about the residence.

2/5/07, Officers responded to a residence on Dreher Avenue, Stroudsburg to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance. Officers learned from the victim that his sister, 52 year old Roseann Moran, had assaulted him after the family dog had chewed up her false teeth. Injuries were observed that corroborated the victim’s story and Moran was placed under arrest for Simple Assault and Harassment. She was arraigned in front of DJ. Anthony Mangan and remanded to MCCF in lieu of $2,000.00 bail.

OTHER ARRESTS

2/2/07, 44 year old Stroudsburg resident Dawn Tucker was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after police were called several times to her apartment for playing music too loud.

2/2/07, 18 year old North Arlington NJ residents Michael A. O’Connor and Michael Cutrozzula, Jr., were arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Underage Drinking after they were observed urinating in public on Smith Street, East Stroudsburg and then learned they had been drinking while underage. Cutrozzula, Jr. was also charged with False Identification after providing a fictitious Florida driver’s license.

2/2/07, 18 year old Paramus NJ resident Austin J. Marchese, 18 year old West Caldwell NJ resident Patrick G. Mooney, 18 year old West Caldwell resident Nicholas Casale and 18 year old Blakely resident Michael Demyan IV were all arrested for Underage Drinking on Hallet Street, East Stroudsburg. Demyan IV was also charged with Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol after being observed with a can of beer.

2/3/07, 18 year old Edison NJ resident Colleen Farrell and 19 year old Plymouth Meeting resident Miguel Tibbit were arrested for Disorderly Conduct after an incident on Smith Street, East Stroudsburg.

2/3/07, 43 year old Stroudsburg resident Glenn Milton was arrest for Disorderly Conduct after being observed with an open container of alcohol on the 400 block of Main Street, Stroudsburg and then attempting to elude police.

2/3/07, 23 year old East Stroudsburg resident Leonard Brooks was charged with Disorderly Conduct after being involved in an altercation at Kelly’s Gulf, North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg.

2/3/07, 21 year old Brodheadsville resident Jonathan T. Erb was arrested for Public Drunkenness after being observed with two 12 packs of beer and being in the company of several underage individuals on Crystal Street, East Stroudsburg. During the investigation, it was determined that he was in an intoxicated state.

PRESS RELEASE  12-29-06

Sunday, 1/28/07, The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Handi-Mart, on Route 611 in Stroud Township. At approximately 2:45 PM, the three suspects entered the store. They took positions around the counter and one pulled a gun out from under his shirt. He pointed it at the clerk and an accomplice then jumped onto the counter, took out the cash drawer from the register, removed approximately $350.00 and threw the drawer at the clerk. They then fled on foot. All three suspects were black males. The suspect with the gun was described as being tall, wearing a dark colored baseball cap, a blue football style jersey with the number 32 and the name “Simpson” on it. The gun was described as being a sawed off shotgun or long gun. The suspect that took the money was described as wearing a dark colored baseball cap, gray hoody, black flight type jacket and black gloves. The third suspect was described as wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark blue parka type jacket and a hoody.

1/29/07, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called to the East Stroudsburg High School at approximately 4:50 AM by school security to investigate a suspicious individual. The vehicle the suspect was in had been reported missing by the owner the night before. Contact was made and the owner approved it being towed to their residence. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 2 bags containing rock cocaine. The suspect, 25 year old Stroudsburg resident, Vincent Rodriguez, falsely identified himself but additional investigation led to his correct name and it was learned he was also wanted on a parole violation. He was charged with Possession of a controlled substance, False Identification to Law Enforcement and a traffic violation. He was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and taken to jail in lieu of $15,000.00 bail.

1/29/07, Police are investigating a burglary that took place early Monday morning at Brewskies Beverage, 55 North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg. A rock was used to shatter the front door and window. An as yet to be determined amount of PA Lottery tickets were taken.

OTHER ARRESTS

1/26/07, 24 year old Kunkletown resident Robert Kish was arrested for Public Drunkenness on Hallet Street, East Stroudsburg. He was then charged with Disorderly Conduct after being found in possession of drug paraphernalia.

1/26/07, Scranton resident Kim Price and East Stroudsburg resident Domineque Scott, both 20 years old, where charged with underage drinking after they were observed with a container of wine on South Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg.

1/26/07, 24 year old Deerfield Beach, FL. resident James Famularo, Jr., was arrested for Possessing an open container of alcohol on Hallet Street, East Stroudsburg.

1/27/07, police were called to a loud party at 63 North Tenth Street, Stroudsburg and arrested three people. 19 year old Roseto resident Matthew Saveri and 19 year old Princeton NJ resident were both charged with Possessing an open container of alcohol and 19 year old Stroudsburg resident Christopher J. Zsenak, Jr. was charged with Disorderly Conduct.

PRESS RELEASE

10/25/06, 24 year old East Stroudsburg resident Eric Gonzales had charges filed on him for DUI, Obedience to traffic control devices and Driving while operating privilege is suspended of revoked. A Stroud Area Regional Police Department officer observed him commit several traffic violations on McConnell Street, Stroudsburg and conducted a vehicle stop. Signs of impairment by alcohol were exhibited and he was administered a field sobriety test which he failed. He submitted a blood sample for testing which came back with a blood alcohol content of .24%.

1/14/07, 24 year old East Stroudsburg resident Daina Marie Wagner had charges filed on her for DUI. Police responded to the scene of an accident on the Interboro Bridge between East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg. Signs of impairment by alcohol were exhibited and she was administered a field sobriety test which she failed. She submitted a blood sample for testing which came back with a blood alcohol content of .31%.

1/25/07, 18 year old Hellertown resident Tanner G. Fye was charged with Possessing an open container of alcohol after being observed with one and Underage drinking on Hallet Street, East Stroudsburg.

PRESS RELEASE

On 1/10/07, at approximately 5:30 PM, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department conducted a raid on Room #120 at the Budget Host Inn, 100 Park Avenue, Stroudsburg. Undercover narcotics Officers obtained a search warrant after conducting an investigation that led them to believe that cocaine trafficking was taking place. Officers seized a plastic bag that contained 27 smaller bags of crack cocaine, a scale, packaging material and cash. 38 year old Stroudsburg resident James Eric King was charged with Possession and Possession With Intent to Deliver a controlled substance. He was arraigned in front of DJ Daniel Whitesell and he was committed to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department also conducted a raid on 1/11/07 at approximately 5:40 PM at Cottage Park located at 1991 West Main Street, Stroud Township. Undercover narcotics Officers developed enough information to obtain a search warrant for controlled substances at the residence of an individual with the street name of “G”. Officers conducted a search and recovered a bag containing 24 grams of powder cocaine, 18 bags of prepackaged cocaine, 5 grams of crack cocaine, marijuana, scales, a crack “stem” and cash. 27 year old Aston M. Barth, aka “G” and his brother, 26 year old Michael A. Barth were arrested for Conspiracy, Possession and Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. They were arraigned in front of DJ Daniel Whitesell and sent to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $40,000.00 each.

11/22/06, 51 year old East Stroudsburg resident Martha Taylor had charges filed relating to Possession of a small amount of marijuana, False Identification to Law Enforcement and Possession of paraphernalia. Her daughter, 25 year old Stroudsburg resident Tisheba Sykes also had charges filed relating to Possession of Paraphernalia and Disorderly Conduct. The arrests came as a result of an officer investigating a suspicious vehicle and activity in the North Ninth and Sarah Street, Stroudsburg area. Taylor was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and several crack pipes. She initially provided a false identification card to police but later changed her mind and gave her correct name. Sykes also had a crack pipe on her.

1/7/07, 21 year old Stroudsburg resident Timothy Savage and 20 year old East Stroudsburg resident Andrew Stallings were arrested for Disorderly Conduct after being observed removing a “Pedestrian Crossing” sign from the 500 block of Main Street, Stroudsburg.

1/11/07, 29 year old Tobyhanna resident Antonio Rivera was charged with Possessing an Open Container of an Alcoholic Beverage after being seen with an open can of beer in the Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot, Stroudsburg.

1/11/07, 24 year old Westville, NJ resident Michael T. Holloway was arrested for Public Drunkenness after being observed in an intoxicated condition on the 700 block of Main Street, Stroudsburg.

1/11/07, 23 year old Westville, NJ resident John J. Phelan was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after being observed urinating in public in Stroudsburg Borough parking lot #3.

1/12/07, 23 year old William A. Jamieson and 23 year old Anthony C. Dellose, both of Wilmington, Del., were charged with Disorderly Conduct after being observed urinating on North Seventh Street, Stroudsburg.

1/12/07, 23 year old Brodheadsville resident Jorge S. Picado was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness after an altercation at the Siamsa Irish Pub on Main Street, Stroudsburg.

On Thursday, January 4th 2007 at 1:54 am, the Stroud Area Regional Police were dispatched to 265 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg Borough, regarding a burglary suspect at that location that had been apprehended by the homeowner. As Off David Thomas and Off. Randy Shook arrived; they could hear loud voices coming from inside of the residence. They entered and found the homeowner detaining a male identified as 25 year old Stroudsburg resident Shelin A. Rocha. According to the homeowner and his wife, they were sleeping and were awakened by the sound of glass breaking. They then spotted Rocha inside of their residence and physically controlled him prior to summoning the police. The Officers determined that the point of entry was doorway that had a broken pane of glass.

While escorting Rocha from the scene, the Officers were met outside by another victim who stated that she witnessed him enter her vehicle, remove a jacket and that Rocha was actually wearing it.

Rocha was charged Burglary and Theft related offenses in front of DJ Michael Muth. He was sent to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.

 

CRIME ALERT ...12-03-2007

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is investigating an armed robbery and two attempted armed robberies that occurred today and yesterday. The first attempted robbery was at 3:25 AM, 1/2/07, at the Dunkin Donuts on Main Street, Stroudsburg. A male approached the drive thru window on foot and knocked on the window, which was locked. An employee approached the window and saw him raise a small silver handgun toward her. She ran to the phone and called 911.

The male was wearing dark colored gloves on both hands, a dark colored vest over a long sleeve light colored shirt and a dark hood with a light colored ball cap underneath. He had on a ski mask or some other kind of fabric covering his face.

The second attempted armed robbery was today, 2:30 AM, 1/3/07, at Wendy’s on North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg. The victim was driving a vehicle along with three other Wendy employees. When they pulled up to an entrance door at Wendy's, a man jumped out from the bushes with a black colored handgun. He pointed the gun at the victim, cocked it and said, "Don't move." The victim, with his passengers then drove away at a high rate of speed. The suspect is described as being a black male, around 5'11", skinny build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark gray sweat-pants, and a light colored bandana around his face.

The armed robbery occurred an hour and fifteen minutes later, 3:45 AM at the Dunkin Donuts on North Ninth Street, Stroud Township. Police learned from the cashier that two males, one with a handgun, entered the store. One jumped over the counter and told him to open the cash register. The register was opened and he took $300.00 from the drawer and the counter underneath the register. The male with the handgun was wearing a hooded camouflage jacket with a baseball cap. He had blue jeans and black footwear. The other male had what appeared to have been an athletic pair of pants on that were darker blue with a light blue stripe. He had a hooded sweatshirt that was blue with light colored sleeves. He was also wearing a white baseball cap. Both had their faces covered with dark colored masks but one was believed to be a black male and the other was either white male or a light skinned black male. An approximate age could not be determined. This robbery may be related to the other Dunkin Donuts robbery that occurred on 1/2/07.

Other Arrests

On 12/15/06, at 10:35 PM, Off. Robert Breitfeller was on patrol in a marked police vehicle on McConnell Street in Stroudsburg when he was almost struck by a vehicle that ran a stop sign on Kane Street. The driver, 45 year old East Stroudsburg resident Judy L. Palmer, exhibited signs of alcohol impairment and was administered field sobriety tests which she subsequently failed. She submitted a blood sample which came back with a Blood Alcohol Content of .29%. She is being charged with DUI and a Stop Sign violation.

On 12/12/06, SARPD was called to meet with Target Security Officers at the Target Store on Rt. 611, Stroud Township. Security conducted an employee theft investigation that resulted in charges of Theft and Retail Theft being filed on 24 year old Stroudsburg resident Ian Rodger. Rodger was employed in the electronics department. He was caught three times on video taking an IPOD, a camcorder, Nintendo and Playstation games. The total value of the taken items was $947.86. Rodger did admit to the theft.

On 12/3/06, Cpl. Keith Strunk,Jr., responded to the scene of a traffic accident at the intersection of Ridgeway and Crystal Streets, East Stroudsburg. One of the vehicle operators, 23 year old East Stroudsburg resident Dustin Lahiff, displayed signs of alcohol impairment. He was administered field sobriety tests which he failed. He was charged with DUI after he submitted a blood sample that came back with a Blood Alcohol Content of .29%.

12/30/06, 47 year old Stroudsburg resident Robert Dickison was arrested for Disorderly Conduct on North Tenth Street, Stroudsburg after he was found in possession of drug paraphernalia.

12/29/06, 27 year old Kunkletown resident David R. Von Stueben was arrested for Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct for being intoxicated on Park Avenue, Stroudsburg. After being arrested he was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

12/29/06, 19 year old East Stroudsburg resident Jennifer M. Kolc was arrested for Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol and Underage Drinking when officers stopped the vehicle she was driving at the intersection of North Sixth and Sarah Streets. She was observed to be in possession of an open container of beer. A passenger in the vehicle, 19 year old East Stroudsburg resident Jacob R. Hanyon was charged wit Disorderly Conduct after he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

12/23/06, 49 year old Deborah Ferraro and her husband 52 year old James Ferraro were both charged with Harassment after police were called to their Penn Estates resident to investigate a domestic complaint.

PRESS RELEASE 12-29-06

12/28/06, 29 year old Bushkill resident Michael “Wood” Williams was arrested for Possession and Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine. Stroud Area Regional Police Department Narcotics Officers conducting an undercover investigation learned that Williams would be in the Stroud Mall Parking lot to make a delivery of cocaine. At approximately 9 PM, Williams arrived and was arrested. A search of his vehicle was conducted and approximately 44.9 grams of powder cocaine was found in the false bottom of a water bottle. He was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and sent to jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is investigating the attempted hold-up of the Citizen Bank at 814 Main Street, Stroudsburg on Saturday, 12/23/06 at approximately 9:03 AM. A white male described as being in his mid 30’s, 5’08” to 6’00” tall, 180 to 200 lbs, medium build with a chubby face and a wide nose, a black moustache (possibly fake) wearing a dark blue zip up windbreaker with the hood pulled up partially covering his face entered the bank. He then went to a service counter, took a blank savings check, wrote a note that indicated he was robbing the bank and passed it to one of the Bank Tellers. The teller noted that he had is right hand in his pocket and was holding an object inside that was pointed in the Tellers direction. The Teller turned around to notify a fellow employee and when the Teller turned back, the suspect was walking out of the bank and fled in an unknown direction.

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is investigating an early morning burglary that occurred today, 12/28/06, at the Dunkin Donuts at 246 North Courtland Street East Stroudsburg. Officers were called to the scene at approximately 4:45 AM by employees that were opening up the business. Police learned that the door leading to the kitchen had a window pane broken which allowed the door to be unlocked. Once inside, two safes containing cash were taken.

12/15/06, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called to 117 B, North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg at approximately 1 AM to investigate a fight which turned out to be verbal in nature. During the investigation it was learned that one of the involved parties, Mone Pegues of 58 Lenape Drive, East Stroudsburg, was wanted on a Bench Warrant out of Hunterdon County, New Jersey for Possession of a Controlled Substance. At approximately 6 PM on 12/12/06 the Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called to the scene of a stabbing that occurred behind the Walmart on Lincoln Avenue in East Stroudsburg. Police found three individuals at the location. The victim, 18 year old East Stroudsburg resident Joseph B. Paulino was found bleeding on the ground after sustaining four stab wounds. He was unable to tell police what happened because he lost consciousness at the scene. The two other individuals were a 16 year old juvenile and an 18 year old adult. They stated that the three of them were standing behind the store when 4-5 individuals approached them and started fighting with them for no apparent reason. On 12/13/06, the 18 year old adult recanted his version of the events and stated that the 16 year old juvenile was the individual that stabbed the victim. Detectives later corroborated the change in the story after they interviewed the victim who confirmed that it was, in fact, the juvenile who had stabbed him. Police are now looking for 16 year old Jose L. Velazquez. He is wanted on charges of Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. His last known address was on Woodale Road, East Stroudsburg.

11/26/06, 41 year old Stroudsburg resident Lesley Beaver was charged with DUI, Unauthorized Driving Over a Fire Hose and One Way Roadways. At approximately 5:30 AM, Firefighters, who were working on the fire on the 600 block of Main Street, Stroudsburg, told a Stroud Area Regional Police Officer that they observed a female drive an SUV over an active fire hose while traveling the wrong way on Ann Street which is a one way street. They also pointed out the vehicle which was stopped in front of the entrance to the Stroudsburg Parking Garage on Ann Street. Contact was made with Beaver and she demonstrated signs of alcohol impairment. She failed a series of Field Sobriety tests and was taken to PMC for a blood sample to determine Blood Alcohol Content which came back as .16%.

12/08/06, 44 year old Stroudsburg resident Hitesh “Harry” Patel was charged with Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Harassment after a domestic violence incident at the Howard Johnson’s in Stroud Township. Police were called to the hotel and learned that the victim had called her husband while he was at work and that this enraged him. He told her to get out and that he was coming there to get their baby and “blow her head off”. The victim then locked herself, her two month old daughter and 3 ½ year old son in an adjoining room. Shortly thereafter, he arrived at their room at the hotel, kicked in the door of the room she was hiding in, threatened her and, as she was holding the two month old, grabbed her by the hair and threw her into the bed several times. Patel was arraigned in front of DJ Robert Claypool and released on $10,000.00 unsecured bail with a no contact with the victim condition.

12/11/06, 22 year old Tobyhanna resident William V. Rutkowski was charged with Burglary and Criminal Trespass after being caught in the Stroudsburg Designer Diamond Outlet at approximately 3:20 AM. Police responded to a burglar alarm and found that the glass front door had been shattered. Rutkowski was found inside and passed out drunk on a chair. He was arraigned in front of DJ Thomas Shiffer and taken to jail in lieu of $5,000.00 bail.

12/06/06, 21 year old Stroud Township resident Shantika Briley was taken into custody at her residence in Wigwam Commons on charges of Possession and Possession with Intent to Deliver powder cocaine. The arrest came as a result of an incident that occurred on January 23, 2006 when SARPD assisted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department who were taking her into custody for non-payment of child support. She was arraigned in front of DJ Thomas Olsen and sent to jail in lieu of $5,000.00 bail.

Update on 12/6/06 Industrial Accident at All Granite and Marble Corporation:

The name of the employee killed in the accident was 45 year old Francisco Romero. He was a resident of 57 Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg. He had been employed at the location for a little over a week. The granite slabs are stored on an angle on A-frame racks. When they are needed for processing, they are stood up into a near perpendicular position and spacers are inserted to keep them slightly tilted. A forklift is then used with a clamp attachment to carry the slab into the building. The incident began when Romero and a co-worker stood up a six foot by 10 foot slab of granite weighing approximately 1,000 pounds into an upright position. The co-worked turned to go to the forklift when he heard a noise. He turned around and saw that Romero was pinned by the slab against another granite slab stored beside it on another A-Frame. The investigation has been turned over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Update on 12/26/06 house fire at 93 Henry Street, East Stroudsburg:

The fire has been determined to be accidental in nature. It started in a container, on the staircase, that was used for discarded cigarette butts
 

PRESS RELEASE  12-06-2006

Today, 12/6/06 at 2:30 PM the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, Stroudsburg Fire Department, Suburban Ambulance and the Monroe County Coroners Office responded to an industrial accident that occurred at the All Granite and Marble Corp. located at 70 Storm Street in the Borough of Stroudsburg. A 45 year old male employee, while attempting to move a large slab of stone, was struck and killed by it. The victim was freed by other company employees. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the deputy coroner. The incident is under investigation by SARPD, the Coroners Office and OSHA. The name of the victim will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

11/24/06, 39 year old Minisink Hills resident Bernita Swartwood was arrested for DUI and traffic offenses after an officer observed her operating a vehicle with registration plates belonging on another vehicle on North Fifth Street, Stroud Township at approximately 11 PM. Swartwood showed signs of impairment, stated that she had been drinking vodka and that there was a thermos bottle of vodka in the cup holder of her console. She showed signs of impairment and was asked to perform a field sobriety test which she subsequently failed. She refused to provide a blood sample for a blood alcohol content test.

11/25/06, 23 year old East Stroudsburg resident Jason Smith was arrested for Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief, Public Drunkenness and other Assault related charges after he was observed attempting to break into a vehicle on Oakland Avenue, East Stroudsburg at approximately 11:55 PM. The owner’s boyfriend confronted the suspect who then brandished a syringe, made a reference to having HIV and threatened him with it. The suspect then fled towards the dike while carrying several bags. The suspect was located by police and was positively identified by the victim. The bags were located and they contained various items including a Dell computer and clothing that had been removed from another victim’s vehicle in East Stroudsburg. He was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and bail was set at $25,000.00

11/27/06, 36 year old Stroudsburg resident Tyrone Heyward was arrested for Possession and Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Heyward was wanted on an outstanding warrant for drug related charges when he was observed at the Skylanes Bowling Alley in East Stroudsburg by a plainclothes police officer. He was taken into custody and after being searched he was found to be in possession of over 6 grams of powdered cocaine. He was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and placed in jail in lieu of a combined bail of $20,000.00 on both sets of charges.

12/02/06, 23 year old Sciota resident Juan Torres was arrested for possessing a small amount of marijuana and Public Drunkenness after an incident at Damon’s Bar and Grill on West Main Street, Stroud Township. At 2:00 AM, Police were at the scene investigating a fight call when Torres refused to leave the scene, became unruly and used profane language. He was arrested for Public Drunkenness and was found to be in possession of marijuana after being searched. He was arraigned in front of DJ Thomas Shiffer and was remanded to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000.00 bail.

12/03/06, 23 year old Wilkes-Barre resident John Derr was arrested on attempted Robbery and Theft charges after he tried to rob the front desk clerk at the Best Western Inn on Main Street, Stroudsburg. Officers were on the corner of 7th and Main Streets investigating an assault when staff members from the Best Western approached them and stated they were detaining an individual who had just tried to rob the Inn. Police learned that Derr had asked the clerk for directions back to Wilkes-Barre. After the clerk went into the office and retrieved a map, Derr grabbed him by the arm, stated, “This is a robbery, give me your money, I am not joking.” The clerk broke free and ran into the lounge alongside of the front desk with Derr following him. Derr was then grabbed and detained by staff members and patrons who were in the lounge. He was arraigned and remanded to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.

12/5/06, 23 year old Warminster resident Ankine Andekian was arrested for DUI and other offenses after an incident at the intersection of Brown and Ridgeway Streets in East Stroudsburg at 5:30 PM. An Officer was on patrol on Brodhead Avenue, East Stroudsburg when he saw a Chevy Prism moving forward towards a woman standing in front of it that was yelling for the operator to stop. The Prism was being operated by Andekian. The victim stated that she was in her car and was stopped for a red light at Brown and Ridgeway Streets when she was struck from behind by Andekian. She exited the vehicle to exchange information and Andekian fled the scene. The victim followed her to the stop sign at Brodhead and Center streets when she again exited her vehicle and placed her self in front of the Prism at which time Andekian moved forward and hit her. It was seconds later that police came upon the scene. Andekian showed signs of impairment and was asked to take a Filed Sobriety test. She failed the test and was taken to Pocono Medical Center to provide a blood sample for a blood alcohol content test.

11/5/06, a charge of Disorderly Conduct was filed on Bangor resident Deanna Flowers after an incident at the Walmart in East Stroudsburg. She was detained by store employees for retail theft and then began fighting with them causing minor injuries.

11/10/06, charges of Harassment and Criminal Mischief were filed on a 17 year old juvenile resident of Stroudsburg after an incident at the Stroud Mall. The juvenile punched an occupant of a vehicle and also punched the vehicle causing over $400.00 in damages.

11/30/06, 20 year old Windsor NJ resident Eric A. Cohen was charged with Disorderly Conduct after being observed in possession of alcohol on Hallet Street, East Stroudsburg.

12/1/06, 18 year old Stroudsburg resident Lauren Zrillo and 19 year old Marshalls Creek resident Douglas A. Wolak were charged with Disorderly Conduct and Possessing an Open Container of an Alcoholic Beverage after they were observed with one on South Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg.

12/1/06, 22 year old Pocono Summit resident Philippe Alphonse was charged with Disorderly Conduct after being observed as he urinated in a public place on Main Street.

Investigations

Police are investigating a hit and run that occurred on 12/5/06 at the intersection of Main Street and Dreher Avenue at 9:40 PM. A witness stated that she saw a 12 year old juvenile crossing Dreher Avenue on a scooter when a Red ford Explorer turned onto Dreher from Main and struck him. The female operator exited the vehicle, checked on the boy who stood up. The operator then left the scene. The juvenile was transported to PMC for treatment. The suspect vehicle was subsequently located and the investigation is ongoing.
 

PRESS RELEASE  12-05-2006

29 year old Bushkill resident Daniel E. Pacheco turned himself in to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department at 6 PM on 12/4/06. Pacheco was wanted for robbing the Designer Outlet at gunpoint on 11/30/06 and taking an estimated $100,000.00 in jewelry. He was accompanied to headquarters by his attorney and other family members. He returned all of the stolen jewelry. He was arraigned in front of DJ Thomas Olsen and bail was set at $100,000.00. His preliminary hearing is scheduled in front of DJ Thomas Shiffer at 10 AM on 12/13/06.

18 year old Stroud Township resident Tristan Shook was arraigned on attempted Robbery charges for the attempted robbery at the CVS on South Courtland Street in East Stroudsburg last August. He was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and bail was set at $20,000.00. He was also arraigned on two sets of Robbery charges for the two holdups at the Square One Shell Station in July. He was arraigned in front of DJ Thomas Shiffer and an additional $20,000.00 bail was set. He is currently in Monroe County Correctional Facility on charges relating to the robbery at the Walmart in East Stroudsburg on 11/19/06.

PRESS RELEASE 11-20-06

11/19/06, 18 year old Stroudsburg resident Tristen T. Shook was arrested for Robbery, Prohibited Offensive weapon, Theft and Simple Assault after a robbery that occurred at 4 AM at the East Stroudsburg Walmart. Shook entered the store and went to a register where he displayed a knife to the cashier, told her to keep her mouth shut and to put all the money in a bag. The cashier complied and Shook fled outside. He was pursued by some store employees but he was able to elude them. The employees found a discarded hooded sweatshirt that Shook had been wearing plus the knife and $172.00 in currency out of the original $935.00 that had been taken. In store video captured the event and still photos were obtained. Theses photos were circulated and twelve hours later an SARPD Officer recognized him. Police went to his residence at 6 PM and arrested him. He later confessed to committing two more robberies and one attempted robbery in July and August. Two of the robberies were at the same location, the Square One Shell convenience store on North Fifth Street on July 22nd and again on July 27th. The third one was at the CVS Pharmacy in East Stroudsburg on August 1st. Out of the twelve robberies that occurred in July; this brings to eight the number of them that have been cleared by an arrest. He was arraigned on the Walmart charges in front of DJ Fluegel and remanded to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000.00 bail. Arraignment on the three additional robberies is pending.

11/19/06, 22 year old Matthew A. Sheerer, homeless, was arrested for Robbery, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as a result of an incident that took place at the Budget Motel, East Stroudsburg. At approximately 2:20 AM, Sheerer entered the motel, approached the night Clerk while holding a crumpled bill in his hand and asked for change of a $50.00 dollar bill. After the clerk gathered the change, Sheerer reached over the counter, snatched the money from the clerk’s hand and ran from the scene. A description was broadcasted and Sheerer was located 10 minutes later on Lincoln Avenue, East Stroudsburg. The clerk was brought to the scene and positively identified Sheerer as the individual who robbed him. He was arraigned in front of DJ Fluegel and sent to jail in lieu of $20,000.00 bail.

11/19/06, 28 year old East Stroudsburg resident Jason J. Welter was arrested for Simple Assault, Harassment and Disorderly Conduct after a domestic dispute turned violent at his residence on North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg. Police were called to the scene at 3:40 AM where they learned that both parties had been drinking and an argument broke out. His wife tried to leave but she stated that Welter picked her up and, while walking with her, she reached out to grab a refrigerator and cut her hand in the process. He then pushed, struck and choked her. The injuries were consistent with the victim’s statement so he was placed under arrest. He was arraigned in front of DJ Fluegel and taken to jail in lieu of $2,500.00 bail.

11/18/06, 41 year old Mount Pocono resident Musa A. Bey was arrested on Burglary, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault and other assault related charges after a domestic dispute that occurred at the Creekview Apartments in Stroudsburg. Police were called to the scene at approximately 1 AM. Bey was not there when police arrived. The victim stated that they had been discussing their relationship ending but Bey became agitated and the victim asked him to leave. He then broke her cell phone so she couldn’t call police. She then took her daughter and the both of them locked themselves in a bedroom. Bey then forced entry into the bedroom with a kitchen knife in his hand. He approached closely and while yelling at her, he pointed the knife at her. Bey left the bedroom and the victim locked the door again. He again forced his way in and, with the knife still in his hand, he forcefully hugged both the victim and her daughter. He then left the scene. He was located by Pocono Mountain Regional Police at his residence in Mount Pocono. He was arraigned in front of DJ Fluegel and placed in jail in lieu of $10,000.00 bail.

11/17/06, 23 year old Swiftwater resident Kayla N. Fish was charged with Simple Assault after a domestic dispute at Alfredo’s Pizza on route 611 in Stroud Township. Police were called to the scene at approximately 9 PM. The victim, an employee at Alfredo’s, had recently broken up with Fish. She had been calling him at work and told her to stop. She later appeared there and asked him to come outside and take some of his belongings out of her car. She became confrontational and started punching, scratching and biting him. The victim’s injuries were consistent with his statement so Fish was placed under arrest. She was arraigned in front of DJ Fluegel and released on her own recognizance.

Other Arrests

11/17/06, 26 year old Bartonsville resident Demetrious M. Gaines was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after an incident at the Stroud Mall in Stroud Township. Police were called after Mall Security stated that he had taken a bag of chips valued at one dollar and led them on a foot chase out of the Mall to McDonalds.

11/17/06, two 15 year old juveniles, one from Pocono Summit and the other from Cresco, were cited for Disorderly Conduct after getting into fight in the Food Court at the Stroud Mall in Stroud Township.

11/19/06, 22 year old Stroudsburg resident Stephanie Sosnovik was arrested for Public Drunkenness after being found in an intoxicated state at the U.S. Mini Mart on West Main Street, Stroudsburg.

PRESS RELEASE 11-17-06

Misdemeanor Retail Theft charges were filed on 45 year old Effort resident Sonnia Cevallo after an incident that occurred at the Pet Supplies Store in Pocono Commons, Stroud Township on 10/03/06. Cevallo asked the manager of the store to see two Cockatiels, valued at $200.00, that were on display in a cage. Approximately 10 minutes after the Manager returned the birds to the cage; another employee notified her that the birds were missing. The Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called and learned that there was a video recording of the event and that the manager was familiar with the suspect. The video clearly depicted Cevallo as she opened the cage and removed the birds. She was contacted and gave a statement in which she initially denied taking the birds. After being confronted with the video evidence, she recanted and stated that she had the birds. They were recovered and returned to Pet Supplies Plus.

Theft and Receiving Stolen Property charges were filed on 18 year old Stroudsburg resident and Kmart employee Hope Marcano as a result of information received from Kmart’s Loss Prevention Officers. On 10/17/06, it was learned that Loss Prevention Officers were investigating an employee theft case in which Marcano was caught on video surveillance tape as she removed a video game and left the store without paying for it. When she was interviewed, she admitted to taking the video game and other merchandise totaling $1,372.00. She used friends and family members to come through her register line where she would then fail to ring up these items.

DUI, Accidents involving Damage to attended Vehicle Property and other traffic violations were filed on 29 year old East Stroudsburg resident Alvin Hendricks, Jr., after a collision that occurred at approximately 2 AM on 11/03/06 near the intersection of 7th and Main Streets Stroudsburg. An Officer on patrol on the 700 block of Main Street heard a loud crash and observed an SUV leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Believing that an accident had occurred and that the SUV may have been involved, the Officer began to follow the vehicle. He received confirmation from Officers at the scene that the SUV had struck an occupied taxi and fled the scene. He attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle would not pull over. After several vehicles were passed and other dangerous driving acts were observed, the Officer pulled ahead of the vehicle and, with other Police cars on either side and to the rear, they were able to “box in” the SUV and bring it to a stop. Hendricks displayed signs of alcohol impairment, was administered a Field Sobriety test which he failed and was then transported to Pocono Medical Center for a blood sample to determine Blood Alcohol Content which was later determined to be .23%.

Charges of DUI and Driving a Vehicle at a Safe Speed were filed on 21 year old Mount Holly, NJ resident Paul M. Slason after a collision that occurred at approximately 8 PM on 11/12/06. Police responded to the scene of an accident in which the suspect struck the rear of a vehicle that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Brown Street and Lincoln Avenue in East Stroudsburg. The force of the crash caused the victim vehicle to move forward and subsequently hit the rear of a third vehicle. Slason demonstrated signs of alcohol impairment, was administered a Field Sobriety Test which he failed and was transported to Pocono Medical Center for a blood sample to determine Blood Alcohol Content which was later determined to be .20%.

11/15/06, 42 year old East Stroudsburg resident Wayne C. Corbo was arrested for Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Harassment after an incident that occurred on Walnut Street, East Stroudsburg. The Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called to the location to investigate a report of a fight. Officers were met by Corbo who stated that his wife had fallen down the stairs, broke her arm and went to the hospital. Police went to the hospital and learned that the victim had been in a relationship with Corbo and used to live with him until a month ago. They still saw each other and most of her belongings were still at the residence. She had gone there earlier and a verbal argument took place. This escalated to an assault when he grabbed her around the neck and threw her down the stairs causing her to receive a broken wrist. Corbo was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and put in Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000.00 bail.

11/16/06, 26 year old East Stroudsburg resident Ian A. Nelson was picked up for being AWOL after an incident at Stroudsmoor Road. Nelson, a Taxi driver, called police for assistance with an intoxicated passenger. After aid was rendered, information from Nelson was taken to complete the report. A routine inquiry was made for wants or warrants and it was learned that he was wanted for desertion. He was taken to Monroe County Correctional Facility to await further action by the military.

11/16/06, 46 year old East Stroudsburg resident Thomas Scotchlas was arrested for Terroristic Threats, Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness after at incident at his residence on Braeside Avenue, East Stroudsburg. Scotclas called police to the scene of a parking dispute, stating to the dispatcher that if the police didn’t arrive in two minutes he was going to get his rifle and shoot someone “right between the eyes”. Police learned that there has been an ongoing dispute between Scotchlas and his neighbor’s about parking their cars across the street from him. At this incident, he used his truck to strike one of the parked vehicles and then was heard telling the neighbors that he was going to get his gun and shoot one of them. Scotchlas admitted to making the statements and police found several rifles and ammunition in the residence that were in plain view and easily accessible. He was arraigned in front of DJ Michael Muth and released after posting $1,000.00 bail.

11/11/06, 21 year old Stroudsburg resident Donald M. Carroll was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness after police were called to the 500 block of Scott Street, Stroudsburg to investigate a complaint, by an anonymous caller, that windows were being broken. Upon arrival, police found that it was actually a party that was breaking up, several smashed pumpkins in the roadway and observed Carroll, in an intoxicated state, about to throw a pumpkin.

11/13/06, 65 year old, address unknown, Ellen M. Marques was arrested for Public Drunkenness after being involved in an altercation at Garfields in the Stroud Mall.

11/16/06, 18 year old Youngwood resident William W. Rice III was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after being found in possession of drug paraphernalia on Lackawanna Avenue, East Stroudsburg.

11/16/06, 18 year old Bethlehem resident Christian J. Saueri was arrested for Possessing an Open Container of an Alcoholic Beverage after being observed with one on Lackawanna Avenue, East Stroudsburg.

11/17/06, 30 year old Sinking Springs resident Nathan T. Fredericks was arrested for Public Drunkenness after being observed in an altercation with security at the Siamsa Pub, 600 block, Main Street, Stroudsburg.
