COVID-19

First and foremost- we would like to assure the public that the men and women of the SARPD remain committed to public safety and enforcing the law.

In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that department personnel are able to continue serving the public during this event, the following is effective immediately and until further notice:

  • SARPD will continue to respond to all calls for service.

  • Police Headquarters has reopened to the general public- masks must be worn and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.

    • Office staff can be also reached by calling 570-421-6800 to answer questions.

    • If you are in need of a police report or have a RTK request, please refer to our website on how to mail in or obtain an online accident report should you prefer not to come in.

  • Officers will be maintaining the recommended social distancing of 6’ when possible and will be utilizing proper personal protective equipment (masks) during the normal course of their duties.

  • Officers will attempt to handle all calls from outside of a residence or building when possible.

  • Special protocols have been put in place for any interaction with a member of the public that is symptomatic or showing signs of illness.

  • We are cleaning and sanitizing, wiping down surfaces, cleaning and wiping some more. Did we mention cleaning and sanitizing?

  • In relation to non-emergency calls for service, when possible we recommend calling the control center and requesting to speak to an officer via phone. In many cases a police report can be taken and documented via phone call.

We thank you for your assistance in keeping our officers, employees and other first responders at the minimum risk of exposure. The public safety of Stroud Township, Stroudsburg Borough, and East Stroudsburg Borough, is our paramount concern as we continue to respond to all calls for service.

We are aware that everyone’s lives are disrupted at this time, but it is a temporary situation. Remain Calm. Only get news from credible sources. Stay home when possible and follow the advice given by the CDC. Don’t’ Panic. We WILL get through this together. If you require our services, Don’t hesitate to call. As always, we will be here for YOU.

Stay safe and stay healthy,

Chief Jennifer Lyon
