The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is currently accepting applications for a Police Secretary from qualified applicants.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION of the position includes but is not limited to:  

 

The Police Secretary will work under the general supervision of the Controller/Executive Administrative Assistant and performs a variety of routine clerical, secretarial, and administrative work in keeping official records, providing administrative support to the police staff and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the police department.

 

Duties include but are not limited to answering phones, dealing with the public at HQ, providing customer assistance, answering in-coming calls and routes callers or provides information as required. Inputting data into various computer systems including incident reports, crime/arrest reports, citations, accident reports, warrants and more. Also includes coordination with outside agencies for a variety of tasks, filing hardcopies of files and reports, data input into word and excel documents and performing other administrative and clerical duties as required. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

The Police Secretary must be a graduate from a high school or have a GED and have two years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education (course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, and data entry) and experience. Must have working knowledge of computers, electronic data processing, basic word and excel knowledge, equipment and modern office practices and procedures.

           

Special Requirements. Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information

handled, successful completion of a background investigation (including fingerprints) and

credit check is required. Employee must be able to obtain security clearance to National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

 

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications. Graduation from an accredited college or

university with a degree in a related field is preferred.

 

Salary and Benefits

 

  • $32,000- $38,000.00 depending on qualifications. Hourly position.
